05/06/2022
A quick and easy guide to changing the filter load of your sewage treatment plant.
Remember that this procedure can also be done with glass.
  1. CLOSE THE WATER PASSAGE. You have to close the bottom, skimmer and sweeper valves. You must also put the selector valve in the closed position.
  2. DISASSEMBLE THE TOP COVER. Remove the top cover of the filter. If your filter has a TOP valve, this will also act as the filter cover. In this case, remove the selector valve.
  3. REMOVING WATER AND SAND
  4. CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE CREPINAS. The crepina is also known as the collector arm. Be very careful with them when removing the sand as they can break. In any case, it is advisable to change them every 2 sand changes.
  5. ADD NEW SAND taking into account:
    1. Check that the pipe and collectors are securely fastened and in place.
    2. Pour water into the filter (approximately 1/3 of the filter capacity).
    3. Plug the diffuser with a plastic bag or cloth.
    4. Pour the sand little by little up to the level indicated by the manufacturer.
  6. CLOSE THE TOP LID. Before closing the lid, clean the mouth of the filter well and check that the O-ring on the lid is in good condition.
  7. OPEN THE WATER PASSAGE. Everything you closed before, you now have to open: the bottom valves, skimmer and sweeper.
  8. WASH AND RINSE. First do a wash to remove the dust that can bring the sand and then, to finish, a rinse to settle the sand.
