Follow these steps for a correct wintering of your pool water:
- Start the wintering process once the summer season is over. It is very important that the pool water temperature is below 15°C.
- Withdraw a small amount of water to ensure that rainfall will not cause the pool to overflow. Remember not to reduce it below the skimmer window or suction nozzles.
- Clean the pool.
- Check the pH of the pool. The pH should be between 7.2 and 7.6.
- Clean the pool filter (optional but highly recommended)
- Carry out a shock chlorination with the pump in motion to disinfect any possible microorganisms that may be present. It is advisable to leave the chlorine to act for at least 6 hours before continuing with the next step.
- Check and re-adjust pH to be between the correct parameters (7.2 and 7.6).
- With the pool filter running, add the winterising product in the dosage recommended by the manufacturer. Be sure to distribute it throughout the pool and keep the filter running to ensure that it is evenly distributed in the water.
- Shut off the water injectors and vacuums to keep the water at rest.
- Remove the pool cleaners and save them for next season.
- Protect sensitive equipment such as pumps and electrolysiswith insulating material.
- Add floats to the water (empty water bottles, tyres, etc.) to prevent the surface of the water from freezing.
- If you have a pool cover, use it. This will prevent the pool from filling up with leaves and dirt.
- Once this process has been completed, check the condition of the pool regularly (3-4 weeks):
- Between January and February, depending on the inclement weather, proceed with the second application of the winteriser.
- Already in spring, when you notice that the pool water temperature exceeds 15ºC on average, start the usual summer time treatment.
